Not only pictures at an exhibition

Exhibitions pose a special challenge to visitors. Just strolling past the exhibits
is not enough - you should try to feel what you see. The Capital of Culture
exhibitions will challenge you: You will definitely not be bored.

Zollverein World Heritage Site

The 'Doppelbock' tower at the Zollverein World Heritage Site is our city's
landmark, and the symbol of our Ruhr metropolis. From 2010 onwards,
fantastic exhibitions about the history of the city, the Ruhr region, and the
culture of this Ruhr metropolis will be shown here. Art produced by our young
artists will be shown, and you can get the very new Ruhr Views. One of our
five visitor centres is located here, welcoming tourists to the Capital of Culture.

Museum Folkwang

The Museum Folkwang plays an important part in our upcoming year as the
European Capital of Culture, and will bring high calibre exhibitions to Essen.
Why not use the opportunity to see for yourself what changes were made
during the rebuilding of the museum, and don't forget to visit its newly
constructed additional wing. It will definitely be worth your while!

Exhibitions are performances

What kind of a Capital of Culture would our city be if all it had to offer were just
four sites? Every exhibition focuses on a different aspect of culture, and that is
why they will be spread out all over the city in 2010.

Emscher Art 2010 and Ruhr Atoll

How about some art and culture you can actually touch? Two very special
locations will be waiting for you in the summer months. Emscher Island, an
open air venue will be hosting Emscher Art 2010, and the 'Ruhr Atoll' will be
created in Werden - just two of many very special events. Stay curious!
